CAMPING BY THE LAKE

Happy New Year munchkins! So much food to eat, so many places to go, so many things to try out with each new year! Are you excited for the new year? Here I was ready to post a recipe but I was like, no, no! I am going to share where I was on New year’s, you know, as the first post of the year! Aaaaah! I am actually really excited to share with you about Lake Oloiden camp which allowed me to start my year with such clarity and peace of mind, in complete awe of God’s creation. . (Link at the end of the post.)

We reached in the evening and the view was so alluring, we ordered for food at the restaurant and bar but I forgot to take a picture, (I’m sorry guys). I had a whole tilapia with roast potatoes, it was actually pretty good. We spotted a number of guys cooking their own food and others roasting on the grills. Later in the evening we had a bonfire telling stories, laughing at everything and anything and building the fire which reminded me of Survivor! If you don’t watch survivor, you need to! Building fire is one of the first things you have to learn to survive! haha I can say am pretty good at it now. When the clock struck midnight, we watched beautiful fireworks over the lake which was a sublime surprise, we were really not expecting it.

I have never camped and if you haven’t as well, then I recommend you start here before you go hard core camping because it was pretty free flow, the tents were already set up when we reached. Depending on the package you pick, the bedding is up to you.The showers and washrooms are super decent and that made me so happy. In case you’re wondering, they are instant showers so yes hot water is available and they are quite spacious too.

When we woke up we ate breakfast near the lake, just enjoying the view, again ordered from the restaurant, a typical English breakfast. During the day you can head over to the lake for boat rides where you can spot hippos and if you have children, there is a nice play ground for them.

I didn’t know that there was so much wildlife in Naivasha. As we were coming in and leaving there were all kinds of animals just walking around by the road, giraffes to warthogs, monkeys and baboons. I wish I could spot the buffaloes and antelopes but I couldn’t. Hopefully when you guys go you will. And have I mentioned the view of the lake from the road? Amazing!!

I am so glad  that the long winding road led me to such a beautiful and ‘adventurous’ place on new year’s.How did you spend your new year’s munchkins? I would love to know.
